Supporting National Thrombosis Week 2026

By Hart Biologicals | 5th May 2026

National Thrombosis Week 2026 takes place from 5th to 8th May. It is hosted by Thrombosis UK and aims to raise awareness of venous thromboembolism (VTE), a condition caused by blood clots in the veins. This year’s event includes a free virtual programme focused on VTE prevention, diagnosis and management. It brings together healthcare professionals, patients and the wider community.

Blood clots remain a serious health issue, which is why campaigns like this continue to matter. Thrombosis UK highlights that 1 in 20 people will have a VTE at some point in their life and that many cases occur during or after a stay in hospital. Raising awareness and encouraging earlier recognition can make a real difference.

This year’s National Thrombosis Week offers education and support for different audiences. It includes accredited sessions for healthcare professionals and dedicated information for patients. Thrombosis UK also provides helpful resources beyond the event itself, such as the Let’s Talk Clots app. The app shares medically approved information about blood clots. It covers signs and symptoms, risk factors, diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

National Thrombosis Week is an important opportunity to raise awareness and share knowledge. It helps encourage better conversations and highlights the value of education for both professionals and patients.
