Factor II or Thrombin has many effects within the coagulation cascade. It is a serine protease that is responsible for the conversion of the soluble protein into insoluble fibrin. Factor IIa is also responsible for the activation of factor VIII into factor VIIIa.

Hart Biologicals Factor II deficient plasmas are human source plasma immunodepleted of that particular coagulation factor while having the other clotting factors within normal limits. Factor II Deficient Plasma along with the other Extrinsic Pathway Factor Deficient Plasmas are recommended for use as a deficient substrate in clot based factor assays using the one stage Prothrombin time (PT).
