Oral anticoagulant drugs, such as warfarin, are routinely monitored using the International Normalised Ratio (INR). The measurement of the INR is dependent on many factors, such as choice of thromboplastin reagent, calibration of thromboplastin reagent and source of blood sample – venous or capillary.
COUM-Con 1 may be used as a low therapeutic control when implementing tests for the monitoring of INR. COUM-Con 1 is prepared from plasma from individuals who are stable on oral anticoagulants. The control plasma should be used to gauge internal factors in each laboratory’s system.
COUM-Con 1 is supplied in the following kit sizes:
· 10 x 0.5ml COUM-Con 1
