Back in December 2006, my position was advertised at the Hartlepool Job Centre for an Admin Assistant and Book-Keeper, just 12-14 hours per week. I applied straight away and was asked to meet for a coffee at the North Star Bar on Hartlepool Marina. Yes! A very relaxing interview, I was over the moon having been informed there and then that I was the candidate that they were looking for. I was asked to meet up with Managing Director Alby Pattison and now Operations Director Mal Pattison at the Hart Biologicals premises, which was then based at Burn Road. At the time Hart Biologicals only employed around 4 members of staff, mainly family, who were situated in the lab area.
As time moved on and my youngest daughter started school I increased my working hours to 24 per week. The company started to develop further too and I found myself becoming more involved with Finance, mainly Sales and Purchase Ledgers.
As Hart was being more successful, we relocated to a larger premises on the Queens Meadow site. Mal and I were the only office staff there at the time, but more staff members were employed after the expansion and my workload continued to increase. We employed Julie Bolton to oversee our work with Tem UK. Annmarie Nixon was also employed part-time to deal with the sales ordering process and Liz Sullivan to help with admin duties and staff holidays/sickness records.
Round us we now have a competent, strong and lively team that really makes Hart Biologicals feel like one big family and a pleasure to come into work each day.
In October 2015 I was incredibly happy to be promoted to Office Manager, increasing my hours to full-time. I certainly enjoy the day-to-day challenges I face at Hart Biologicals…
