Hart Biologicals sponsored the Health & Care Student of the Year category at Hartlepool College of Further Education’s 24th annual Celebration of Achievement event.
The event is an opportunity to showcase the very best Hartlepool College has to offer with many of the shortlisted students already successfully undertaking roles within businesses across the North East.
On the evening, it was Elle Lawrence, an apprentice from Hartlepool-based organisation Changing Futures North East who walked away with the Health & Care student of the year award which was presented by Hart Biologicals’ very own Jason Pattison.
Jason said on the night: “Tonight has been fantastic. It’s really good to see how much the students are appreciated and celebrated by the College. The awards aren’t given for just the highest accolades, they’re given for the students that have continually developed their skills and that have defied all odds to get where they want to be. I was honoured to attend the event.
When asked why Hart Biologicals had sponsored a category at the event, Jason said: “We are really passionate about promoting Hartlepool students of all ages.
“The majority of our workforce is from the town with a number of employees starting as apprentices and progressing on to be full time valued members of staff. We owe so much to the College that we always want to give something back. By sponsoring this event we feel we can help to continue our brilliant relationship.
“I’m incredibly happy to have presented the award to Elle. She’s such a wonderful young woman and the work she has undertaken at Changing Futures has helped the people of Hartlepool immeasurably.
“To see so many young people achieving great things already in their careers is fantastic and it’s a sign that they have a bright future ahead of them.”
“From speaking to staff members after the event I could tell they were just as proud of the students as the students were of themselves.
“The calibre and all-round politeness of all students nominated was first class and proves it is worth sponsoring events of this type. The catering which was provided by the students of the college was also really good!”
On the night Elle also picked up the overall Student of the Year award presented by the Chair of Governors, Professor Aidan Mullan.
Other companies presenting on the night included Seymour Civil Engineering and Gus Robinson Foundation with the overall event being sponsored by JDR Cables.
