A member of the Hart Biologicals team is backing a charity which supports Police Officers across the UK after a close family friend sadly passed away.
Chloe Milburn, a research scientist with Hart Biologicals, is arranging a number of events in support of Police Care UK. A cause which is close to her heart.
Chloe said: “The charity supports current and former officers along with their families, after they have suffered some sort of harm or trauma in the line of duty.
“The amount of distress our police officers go through on a day to day basis is tremendous and my aim is to increase awareness of Police Care UK and what the community can do to help the police that serve them.
“In the past couple of weeks, the Hartlepool force has lost one of their own and it has affected these officers a lot more than you think.
“Without this charity, officers might not get the help they need. It’s worrying that some officers don’t even know that this support is there for them.”
Chloe has only been involved with Police Care UK for a matter of weeks and has already arranged a number of events including a Bake-Off style competition on 16th May, a family fun day at North Yorkshire’s Hutton Rudby Cricket Club on 28thJuly and a bake sale at Cleveland Police Hartlepool Headquarters.
Chloe continued: “I’m working with Stephen Bain, a fundraising assistant at the charity and he has been fantastic. Everything I’ve put to him, he has supported 100 per cent.”
Police Care UK’s head of fundraising, Damian Chapman said: “Chloe is doing a fantastic thing for the charity in tragic circumstances.
“All too often police colleagues risk their lives to protect the public and sometimes they never come home.
“The charity receives no Government support for the more than 5,000 police and families we support on an ongoing basis, and without the vital support of people like Chloe and her colleagues at Hart Biologicals, we simply wouldn’t be able to provide the care and support we do.”
Chloe said: “If anyone else wants to take part then they’re more than welcome. I’ve already roped in my partner, my mum, everyone from Hart Biologicals and a lot of officers from Hartlepool who are really supporting the cause.”
Chloe’s goal is to raise £1,000 in memory of PC David Myers and all proceeds will go towards Police Care UK. To support Chloe’s cause, you can click here.
