Staff at Hart Biologicals have shown their support to Macmillan Cancer Support with its annual coffee morning raising more than £452.
The Macmillan Coffee Morning, which was hosted by Hart Biologicals is the fifth coffee morning the company has held.
Jason Pattison, Production Manager at Hart Biologicals, said: “The first two years of the Macmillan Coffee Mornings were quite small and could be held in the staff kitchen.
“Since the expansion into our second factory, we were able to grow and use the upstairs training/conference room, inviting more people from the surrounding businesses.”
“We’ve raised more than £1,000 since beginning and this year we’ve seen our greatest ever amount which is such an achievement for everyone involved.
“Days like this are brilliant social activities for staff to catch up with each other, we also have friends and family of staff come to event.
“We invite local companies along to help build those relationships and we like to support charities as best we can - whether they’re national like Macmillan or local like Alice House Hospice.”
He added: “Everyone has been affected by cancer in some way and it’s nice to give something back in any way we can.”
Jasmine Pattison, QA Assistant who arranged this year’s event, said: “I took on the task of organising the coffee morning this year as part of my business administration apprenticeship.
“One of the units asks me to organise an event and I thought it was a fantastic opportunity to complete that objective and to do something for charity.
“Everyone was so helpful in supporting me - arranging everything from designing the posters and organising the games to sending out the invitations and sorting the prizes.
“They were even really active in voting for our best baker too, which went to Peter for his incredible sausage rolls.
“The reception I’ve received from everyone has been so positive and I’m so proud to have taken part in it.
“It’s thanks to everyone’s efforts that this coffee morning was so successful, and I want to thank them all for the delicious donations of sweet and savoury nibbles.”
The first Macmillan Coffee Morning was held in 1990 and has since raised £29.5 million to go towards services Macmillan provides including one to one support, home care, social care, diagnosis programmes and rehabilitation programmes.
