THINGS are all set to go downhill for our intern Kieran Burns as he heads for the ski slopes of France.

The 22-year-old joined us in the summer having graduated from Manchester University, where his did a degree in Chemical Engineering.

Kieran, who hails from the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool and studied at Manor College before going onto Hartlepool 6th Form College, says he has loved every minute of his time with us.

His next adventure will see him head to Val Thorens in France where he will spend the winter season as a rep on the slopes, then after that he is setting his sights on trekking around South America in a gap year.

But don’t rule out seeing him back with us when he finishes his adventures!

Kieran said: “I’ve loved every minute at Hart Innovations. It’s a great team to work for and Alex Ebinger has been my mentor as well as my boss!

“It has been a fantastic experience here, and I have learned things that I would never have learned in a classroom. This is the experience that uni can’t provide you with, it’s real life.

“I’ve always had an interest in maths and chemistry, and problem solving. I’ve been working on an HRRS project with APTT reagent that helps people with blood disorders.

“I’ve taken the product through the development stage, and it’s now with a company in Australia where they will check to see if it meets their specifications. Hopefully it will, and then it can go into production in the next few months.

“I’m looking forward to France and then travelling, and after that, who knows? As I say though, I’ve loved it here, I’ve had a real insight into how things operate and maybe one day the door will be open for me to come back.”

Alexander Ebinger added: “Kieran has done really well since joining us in the summer. We had a lot of small projects which Alby wanted to have a look at, and Kieran has taken them all on.

“He’s been a popular member of the team, and we all wish him well as he heads off on his travels.”
